Year 12 opt ion blocks for courses start ing September 2022 Shown below are the option blocks from which students select three subjects/courses. It is not possible to choose two subjects from the same column as those lessons will be at the same times. Students should aim to select subjects that are in the pathwaymost suitable to their predicted grades. Students should also consider their combination of subjects in line with the future possibilities guide. Students can choose a combination of A Level and BTEC courses, but if electing to follow this blended route they need to consider following two of each type of qualification and they should discuss any option choices carefully with staff. The English andmaths GCSE qualifications in columns F and G are re-sit classes, every student in sixth form is expected to work towards a GCSE grade 4 in English and maths if this is not achieved at the end of their GCSE studies. Column D also contains a level three core maths qualification, the aim of this qualification is to teach pupils how to use and apply maths in real situations, this is a government initiative designed to encourage thousands more pupils to continue studying maths beyond age 16.
