West Lakes Academy staff and students are celebrating the 2019 GCSE results.
The academy is thrilled to announce a number of outstanding individual performances with high grades being achieved across the wide range of GCSE and equivalent qualifications.

- Alex Marsden achieved two grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s.
- Phoebe Forster achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 8s
- Jemma Atkinson achieved seven grade 9s and three grade 8s.
- Katie Winn has achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 8s.
- Luke Williams has achieved four grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 7.
West Lakes Academy Principal, James Jackson said: “Once again, I am overwhelmed by the amazing grades our students have achieved which prove that, not only are West Lakes Academy students polite, kind and resilient, they are also incredibly academically driven and hard working. This attitude, alongside our brilliant, talented staff, who go above and beyond to help our students and the supportive, caring environments created by our students’ families, has been key to their success. I wish all our students the best of luck in their futures.”
Chief Executive of the West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust, Jonathan Johnson said: “As with our A level students’ performance, I am delighted for the young people of West Lakes Academy and to see the quality of their education has remained at the highest level while we have continued to grow as a multi-academy trust; we haven’t lost what’s special about WLA. When you consider that a lot of these year 11s also took part in Rock Challenge as but one example of the breadth of other commitments alongside their studies, it is to their credit that they balance all those demands and still perform at the highest academic standard. The future for these students is bright. The students’ results are a perfect reflection of all their hard work and that of the staff over the past seven years. This has been my constant prayer and it has been answered. I thank God that we have such a talented and committed group of adults, leading such a willing community of students.”
The academy will release its headline data in September once the official DfE checking exercise has been completed, allowing for queries over re-marks and grade boundaries to be addressed.
