Judged 'Good' by Ofsted in February 2013, West Lakes Academy is committed to achieving high standards for all with a rich and diverse range of learning experiences that provide stretch and challenge, tailored to student needs and styles.

We are based in a brand new £27m building in beautiful West Cumbria, with easy access to Wasdale, Ennerdale and the Western lakes. The area offers an excellent quality of life, with superb leisure opportunities.

We are part of the Western Lakes Teaching Schools Alliance and are building strong links with other schools in the area.  We offer a comprehensive programme of CPD.

Assistant Principal - KS5

Permanent position – September 2014 start

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, high-calibre professional to provide additional leadership and strategic input into our successful senior team as we continue our mission towards excellence in this over-subscribed academy. Passion, drive and a positive attitude are essential. The role will initially focus on Sixth Form responsibilities, with opportunities to undertake a wider range of activities that support our determination to raise standards of attainment across the academy in the future.The successful candidate will be responsible for all matters relating to the Academy’s Key Stage 5 and will need to be flexible in order to meet changing education and training needs of our young people. A sound knowledge of all the key issues and priorities relating to KS5 provision is critical to success in this role in order to ensure our students reach their full potential. Teacher of Science -event-linited maternity cover up to 12 months

We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and inspirational teacher to join an enthusiastic and experienced team with a passion for science, who work hard to engage and motivate all students. You should be able to successfully teach Science to at least GCSE level, ideally to ‘A’ level, and across the ability range (chemistry specialism preferred). We have science as a specialism and are equipped with seven, state-of-the-art teaching labs that have a full range of traditional science equipment and extensive 21st century ICT facilities to provide a truly outstanding learning environment.
