Two students from West Lakes Academy have competed in the regional heats of the Springboard FutureChef competition.
Lewis Taylor (Year 10) and Bethany Fullelove (Year 9) competed against eight students from across four other Cumbrian schools at the event held at Kendal College. Participants had to cook a two course meal for two people from a budget of up to £7.00.
Mrs Harris said, “All of the judges agreed it was a very close and busy competition, sadly there only one winner, so we missed out this time. I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for Lewis and Bethany as not only were they the youngest two competitors (many others competing for the 3rd time) but they conducted themselves in a professional manner and the judges were all so impressed with their workmanship, the dishes that they chose and their wonderful characters. I am a very proud food technology teacher and hopefully this competition will inspire other young budding chef’s to sign up and compete next September 2020!”
