Head of Mathematics – Maternity Cover

Fixed Term, full-time position, from January 2019.

MPR/UPR, with TLR 1B to the value of £9,470 per annum

We seek an experienced or aspiring leader of mathematics with:

  • an outstanding track record of examination success and a track record of successfully teaching maths across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • proven leadership experience and the skill set to improve standards and outcomes across the department.
  • the ability to inspire and enthuse your team and a positive approach to staff improvement that is based on a coaching model.

West Lakes Academy maths performance features:

  • GCSE Mathematics results have shown year on year improvements, now standing at 74% in grades 9-4.
  • We have a 100% success rate at A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics with Mathematics being one of the most popular subject areas in the Academy at KS5.

Our supportive Mathematics department are:

  • always looking for opportunities to develop mathematical teaching and learning
  • extremely well-resourced with every teaching room being equipped with wall-mounted interactive whiteboards and Airplay facilities via PCs;
  • developing our use of iPads that students in years 7 – 11 are equipped with, utilising a number of mathematics specific interactive resources.
  • able to provide learners with access to textbooks online and a bank of supportive web-based material they can access when in the Academy or at home.

The Head of Mathematics is supported by Key Stage Coordinators, one of which acts as a second in department. These are new appointments giving the successful applicant a very enthusiastic and supportive team to lead and develop.

Finance Manager

We are looking to appoint a highly motived Finance Manager to oversee all aspects of finance within the Multi Academy Trust, as a result of the retirement of our existing Finance Manager.

This is a full time, full year permanent contract starting from January 2019. Starting salary will be £39,665 per annum rising to £43,911 per annum. An occupational pension scheme is available through the Local Government Pension Scheme.

You will:

  • Provide operational and strategic financial support for the Trust.
  • Manage the MAT finance team and provide finance services.
  • Manage: budget monitoring, budget setting, payroll, and finance systems
  • Design and implement central finance structures and systems and support the development of financial strategy.
  • Assist in formulating the financial aims and objectives of the Multi Academy Trust and in establishing the policies, systems and procedures.
  • Support the Chief Operating Officer in ensuring compliance with financial guidelines and requirements for the Department for Education.

Experience in educational finance would be an advantage but is not essential.
