Originally from Darlington, I studied Mathematics with Engineering at Nottingham University and then, after a brief military career, completed my PGCE in secondary Mathematics at Newcastle. I began my teaching career in Penrith, Cumbria, before gradually drifting down to the South, by way of Dewsbury, Surrey and finally Croydon. The lure of the Cumbrian fells proved too much and I relocated back to Cumbria in 2014 to take up the position of Vice Principal at West Lakes Academy. In September 2018 I was appointed as Head of Academy and now oversee the day to day running of West Lakes Academy as well as continuing to deliver A level Further Maths to Year 13.  I am finding the challenge and learning that goes with the new role one I relish and look forward to continuing to ‘change lives through learning. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking as often as I can having recently retired from playing rugby.
