What is the Catch Up Fund Grant?
“The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2.”  DfE

The academy receives an extra £500 for each Year 7 student who has not achieved at least a scaled score of 100 in English and/or maths at Key Stage 2. For 2016/17 the total Catch Up Grant fund is £8167

How have we spent the Catch Up Fund Grant?
Impact of the Catch Up Fund Grant
In the academic year 2015-2016

  On entry End of Year 7
English 12 students* joined us with a KS2 level of 3. 5 students achieved a level 5, 5 students achieved a level 4 and two students achieved a level 3
5 students joined us with a KS2 score of 2. 1 student achieved a level 5, 1 student achieved a level four and two students achieved a level 3.
Maths 19 students* joined us with a KS2 level of 3. 15 of these students achieved a level 4 and 3 achieved a level 3.
2 students joined us with a KS2 score of 2. Both students achieved a level 3.


Plans for the future
*one student not present for end of year assessment

  • Determine which interventions are having the most impact on our students.
  • Revise provision for those students furthest away from the secondary standard.
  • Broaden the range of research on which we base our interventions.
  • Specifically tailor and target interventions for individual ‘Catch-Up’ students.
