What is the Catch Up Fund Grant?
“The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2.”  DfE

The academy receives an extra £500 for each Year 7 student who has not achieved at least a scaled score of 100 in English and/or maths at Key Stage 2. For 2016/17 the total Catch Up Grant fund is £8167

In the academic year 2017-2018

On entry End of Year 7
English 53 students joined us with a reading standardised score of less than 100. 47 out of the 53 students who were not secondary ready in relation to their reading standardised score achieved

‘developing’ or ‘secure’ in their end of year English assessment.

All students achieved at least ‘emerging’ level criteria in their end of year English assessment
Maths 42 students joined us with a mathematics standardised score of less than 100. 38 out of the 42 students who were not secondary ready in relation to their maths standardised score achieved ‘developing’ or ‘secure’ in their end of year mathematics assessment.

Plans for the 2018-19

  • Determine which interventions are having the most impact on our students.
  • Revise provision for those students furthest away from the secondary standard.
  • Broaden the range of research on which we base our interventions.
  • Specifically tailor and target interventions for individual ‘Catch-Up’ students.
